Is There a Catch?

There is no catch. Cancer Research UK simply asks that you consider leaving a gift in your Will to support their work. This is entirely your choice, and any legacy – whether a fixed sum or a percentage of your estate – is completely at your discretion.

Why Leave a Gift in Your Will?

Leaving a charitable legacy can make a real difference.

  • Around one third of Cancer Research UK’s funding comes from gifts in Wills
  • These contributions help fund vital research and future breakthroughs
  • Donations can support work both nationally and locally

In Edinburgh alone, Cancer Research UK has invested millions of pounds in life-saving research, helping drive progress in prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

It’s also worth noting that Cancer Research UK does not receive government funding, making charitable support essential to its work.

Inheritance Tax Benefits

There can also be financial benefits to leaving a charitable gift.

If you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, the rate of Inheritance Tax on the remainder of your estate may reduce from 40% to 36%.

We can explain how this works during your consultation and help you structure your Will accordingly.
