Neilsons Raises over £1000 for Four Square at Corstorphine Fair

By Neilsons Team

The Neilsons team was proud to be at the heart of this year’s Corstorphine Fair, raising an impressive £1,053 for our charity partner, Four Square, while catching up with hundreds of residents, clients, and visitors throughout the day.

As one of Edinburgh’s leading Solicitor Estate Agents, Neilsons is passionate about supporting the communities we serve, and Saturday’s event provided the perfect opportunity to bring people together at the Fair for a great cause.

Our fundraising stall proved a popular attraction, with visitors enjoying a fun-filled tombola and raffle while helping to support the vital work carried out by Four Square across Edinburgh.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who stopped by, took part and donated, we exceeded £1,000 in fundraising. Tombola prizes ranged from children’s favourites such as Hook-a-Duck to a beautifully handcrafted blanket, while our raffle featured signed football shirts from Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian FC.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, took part and contributed to this fantastic total. Congratulations also go to Steven and Louise, who won the signed Hearts and Hibs shirts respectively. The raffle was drawn by local Edinburgh West MP Christine Jardine, adding a special touch to a memorable day for the Neilsons team.

Thankfully, the rain stayed away, and it was wonderful to see the Fair so well attended. Held every two years, the Corstorphine Fair is Edinburgh’s largest community-organised event and has a rich history dating back centuries. St Margaret’s Park, where the fair takes place, sits at the heart of the original village of Corstorphine. Records show that Lord Forrester petitioned for Corstorphine to hold a fair as early as 1662, while the modern-day event has been running since 1986. Neilsons were delighted to be invited to watch the Lord Provost cut the celebratory cake marking the Fair’s 20th edition, a fitting tribute to an event that continues to bring the community together.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was the opportunity to speak with local residents about Four Square and the life-changing work the charity undertakes. The organisation supports people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness, helping them access safe accommodation and build more secure futures.

In particular, one conversation reinforced exactly why this fundraising is so important. A lady who purchased a raffle ticket shared that Four Square had previously helped her secure safe and stable housing, providing the foundation she needed to rebuild her life. Hearing first-hand how the charity’s work has positively impacted someone’s future was a powerful reminder of the difference these services make.

At Neilsons, helping people move into homes is at the heart of what we do every day. We also recognise that the journey to a safe and secure home is not straightforward for everyone. That is why we are proud to support Four Square and contribute, in our own way, to helping more people access the stability and opportunity that a home can provide.

This event marks just one of several fundraising activities planned throughout the year. We also have a quiz night and the Kiltwalk coming up, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to support this outstanding charity.

If you would like to help us reach our fundraising target, you can make a donation via our JustGiving page here. Thank you once again to everyone who supported us at the Corstorphine Fair. Together, we are helping to make a real difference in our community.
