On Thursday 24th September we were delighted to host our first Wine, Wills and Where to Begin event at Four Square’s beautiful Park Café in Saughton Park, bringing together good conversation, practical advice and, of course, a glass or two of wine.
As our charity partners, Four Square were fantastic hosts, with Blair making us feel very welcome and having the café all set up and ready for our arrival. Once the Neilsons banner was up, the goody bags were in place and the wine was ready to pour, we were all set for the evening.
Our Private Client team delivered an engaging and informative session, striking just the right balance between humour and the more serious considerations involved in making a Will or appointing a Power of Attorney. Questions flowed throughout the presentation and continued into a lively Q&A afterwards.
There were even a few minds changed along the way. One attendee, having recently acted as an executor for a relative in England, joked that he looked forward to the day AI replaced the entire legal profession! Thankfully, by the end of the evening, he told us we had managed to change his mind.
Most importantly, the event gave attendees the opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed and approachable setting. At Neilsons, we believe legal advice should be clear, practical and delivered by people you feel comfortable talking to, particularly when discussing important personal matters such as Wills and estate planning. It was great to see that approach reflected in the evening, with plenty of questions and conversation, and a number of attendees requesting contact details afterwards to arrange follow-up appointments.
The evening also raised money for a great cause, with ticket sales going to Four Square to support the incredible work they do in our community supporting those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us, to our Private Client team for sharing their expertise, and to Blair and Four Square for being such welcoming hosts. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and a great example of what can happen when useful advice, community and a little wine come together.
