This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor or Paralegal to join one of Edinburgh’s top conveyancing firms.

Main duties and responsibilities involve: –

  • Dealing with all aspects of residential conveyancing.
  • Dealing with transactions in a prompt and efficient manner, providing an excellent service to clients, as part of a highly talented team involving solicitors, paralegals and administrative support staff.
  • Dealing with transactions right through to settlement in a friendly and supportive working environment.

Essential Skills and Attributes: –

  • Extensive conveyancing experience working in a similar role.
  • Highly organised person and process driven with good attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of business.
  • Proven ability to work to critical deadlines and effectively time manage workload.

Receptionist/Legal Administrator

Neilsons Solicitors and Estate Agents are looking to recruit a front of house Receptionist/Legal Administrator to join our residential conveyancing team at our brand new Head Office at 138-142 St Johns Road, Edinburgh, EH12 8AY.

The full-time role is an excellent opportunity to join one of Edinburgh’s top firms. Neilsons are the Residential Property Team of the Year 2020, 2021,2022 and 2023, and Scottish Agency of the Year 2024.

Ideally, we are looking for individuals with at least 1 years’ experience of working in a Solicitor Estate Agency.

Main duties and responsibilities involve:-

  • Answer incoming telephone calls as the first point of contact for client enquiries.
  • Assist with off-street enquiries.
  • Assist with incoming email enquiries and mail.
  • Maintain property displays and update them when properties sell/new properties come on the market
  • Instruct legal searches
  • Assist solicitors with general correspondence and documents as required using dictation transcription equipment
  • Assist solicitors with deeds registration and LBTT submissions
  • File management, including storage and archiving
  • Office administration including petty cash, stationery, key logging, supplies
  • Assist solicitors with ID checks and law society compliance, as well as Anti-Money Laundering checks
  • Filing, scanning and photocopying
  • Any other ad hoc requirements as advised by the team

Essential Skills and Attributes:-

  • Highly organised and client driven with good attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work to critical deadlines and effectively time manage workload
  • IT and confident typing skills
  • Interest in conveyancing and the property market
  • Team player willing to go the extra mile

Trainee Office Administrator

Neilsons Solicitors and Estate Agents are looking to recruit a full-time Trainee Office Administrator for our Head Office team at 138-142 St Johns Road, Edinburgh.

Previous work experience at a Solicitor Estate Agency is not essential as full training will be provided.

This position would be ideally suited to a school leaver who is looking to learn Office practice from the basics but it can lead on to a career in secretarial, paralegal, estate agency or law accountancy departments depending on aptitude.

Key responsibilities involve:

  • Filing
  • Photocopying
  • Processing mail
  • Other general administration
  • Answering telephone calls, making telephone calls as instructed, and other general reception duties

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Be a confident user of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel etc).
  • Be confident using web-based computer systems.
  • Have a keen eye for detail when data inputting.
  • Be enthusiastic and keen to learn.

Professional and friendly telephone manner is essential, as well as excellent writing and typing skills.
